Congratulations to Towson University’s 2004 Assessment Fellows!

Cheryl A. Brown (English) is designing and implementing an assessment of students’ writing skills in General Education Requirement I.A. (Writing for a Liberal Education).
Justin Buckingham (Psychology) is redesigning assessment strategies in the Psychology major.
Paul Downing (Kinesiology) is developing and evaluating case study assignments to develop critical thinking skills and professional performance in KNES 453 (Sport Administration).
Colleen Ebacher (Modern Languages) is working with her colleagues to clarify the learning goals of SPAN 101 (Spanish Elements I), assess student achievement of those goals, and propose curricular innovations that emphasize active learning.
Phyllis Freeman (Women’s Studies & Women’s Center) is redesigning WMST 231 (Women in Perspective) to foster in-class and out-of-class learning and is assessing student learning in relation to gender and diversity markers.
Kim Lauffer (Mass Communication) is working with colleagues to redesign assessment strategies for the Journalism & New Media track of the Mass Communication major.
Susan Radius (Health Science) is developing an assessment bridge, linking students’ initial and concluding coursework, for the Health Science master’s program.
Raj Rajeswari and David Schaefer (Physics) are redesigning the assessment strategy for PHYS 100 (Understanding Physics).
Alex Storrs (Physics) is developing and validating an online portfolio for ASTR 301 (Cosmic Origins).
Goran Trajkovski (Computer & Information Science) is working with students to develop portfolios and a test of disciplinary knowledge for several courses and to modify course syllabi to help students achieve key course learning outcomes.
