Internships in Journalism/New Media

Journalism/New Media approved internship list

Only full-time faculty can supervise internships. Faculty who can supervise students in the Journalism/New Media track are: Jenny Atwater, Sean Baker, Charles Flippen, Beth Haller, Kim Lauffer, Thom Lieb, Sandy Nichols and Stacy Spaulding.
Internships in the Journalism/New Media track must be approved by the unit coordinator, Prof. Beth Haller (bhaller@towson.edu), if they are not on the pre-approved list.
All journalism & new media track students must pass either MCOM 255, Newswriting, or MCOM 258, Journalism/New Media II, (with a C or better) before doing an internship.
To qualify as a journalism/new media internship, the student should work in an area of news, features, photography, editing, broadcast or online content creation, i.e. not in the promotions or marketing department.

The following list is of local and national sites in which Towson students have successfully participated in internships. Students wishing to do internships nationally or in their home state must have their internship site approved by the Journalism/New Media unit coordinator.
