elusive sacred cycles - 2002

In the piece ‘Elusive sacred cycles’ I explore the delicacy of the Earth and human fertility through the image of a pickled egg and numerical and geometric symbols of human female cycles. The circle with 28 spokes symbolizes the 28-day lunar cycle. The Ocotillo leafed out and in bloom, represents a highly evolved species able to maintain its fertility in a harsh environment. Despite its superficial appearance of death, its fertility continues. The Ocotillo’s successful fertility cycle is dependant on Water, even if it is a small amount.
