Dr. Colleen Ebacher is Associate Professor of Spanish where she has taught for the past 15 years. Dr. Ebacher is a specialist on colonial Mexico and has published numerous articles on the encounter between indigenous peoples and Spanish religious and government authorities. Her focus is interdisciplinary in nature and is grounded in the study of literature, anthropology, history, philosophy and religious studies. Having obtained her Ph.D. from The University of Michigan, Dr. Ebacher has taught both undergraduate and graduate students. She has taught courses in Spanish, Culture and Civilization of Latin America, Latin American literature, colonial studies, translation, film and women writers. She is currently under contract with John Wiley & Sons writing a first-years Spanish textbook Pasaporte al español. Dr. Ebacher has 15 years experience working with study abroad programs

Professor Ronn Pineo is Director of Latin American Studies at Towson University, where he has worked for the past 22 years. Dr. Pineo received his Ph.D. in Latin American History at the University of California, Irvine in 1987. He is the author of three books and several articles on the history of Latin America: Ecuador and the United States: Useful Strangers (Athens, Georgia: University of Georgia Press); Contributing Co-Editor, with James Baer, Cities of Hope: People, Protests, and Progress in Urbanizing Latin America, 1870-1930 (Boulder: Westview Press, 1998, hardcover edition; paperback edition, 2000) and Social and Economic Reform in Ecuador: Life and Work in Guayaquil, 1870-1925 (Gainesville, Florida: University Press of Florida, 1996). He has traveled widely in Latin America. Professor Pineo and his family lived in Mexico, but now make their home in Towson.
Ed Esbrandt
Social Studies Middle School Teacher

Mr. Ed Esbrandt, a social studies middle school teacher in Maryland’s Howard County, played a leadership role in curriculum development in the 2007 Fulbright-Hays Group Study Abroad program in Mexico. He has worked very effectively with teachers in the development of cross-curriculum lessons that promote the goals of Fulbright-Hays program, including the organization of two very valuable panel presentations. He has participated in presenting newly developed Fulbright-Hays lessons and curricula at the annual Maryland Social Studies Counsel Conference, Howard County Secondary teachers, and within his school. Mr. Esbrandt has reconstructed the 7th grade Latin American unit and developed several lessons for the 7th and 8th grade curricula in compliance with the Maryland State Voluntary Curricula. His newly developed Latin American History and Culture class was available as an elective to all Howard County High School students for 2009-2010.
