Families & Professionals United (FPU):

A Collaborative Leadership Training Initiative for Improving Inclusion

This Celebrating All of Us project began as a requirement for completing the Families & Professionals United course, which was a yearlong leadership-training course designed to empower individuals to play a meaningful and substantive role in educational decision-making for students at school and in the community. Additionally, the course developed a team spirit among all stakeholders in the inclusion process as they acquire the skills necessary to initiate and implement exemplary inclusive practices. Nationally known and local experts in the field of inclusion taught classes. Participants completed projects designed to improve least restrictive environment and/or the quality of inclusion. FPU was a cooperative agreement with the Maryland State Department of Education, Towson University and Baltimore County Public Schools.
