Course Reflection Questions:

Student name - A.B.

These final questions are an overall evaluation of what we learned about technology throughout the course.

  1. We have used technology tools in this class to conduct research and produce work.  We have also discussed the roles that technology is playing in everyday life and in education.  Think ahead about 5 – 6 years; by that time most of you will have graduated and entered the workforce, the majority becoming educators.  How do you see that technology will influence your teaching and student learning?  Do you think that more classes will be offered online?  What possibilities do you see to expand learning opportunities for students?

After taking this technology course I have realized that it will be influencing my teaching and student learning in the future. It will allow me to be more organized and after making my first website in this class I will be creating one when I become an educator for parents to get a feel of what my course is going to be like. I will be able to do research on the grade I am going to be teaching and get ideas such as activities, worksheets, and more for my lesson plans. By the way I research and prepare my year of activities is going to be affecting the way my students learn. Since technology is becoming such a large part of learning in society, I think more online courses are going to become available for students online. Students feel so much comfortable being on the computer that they may start taking many online courses in the future. I learned so much in one semester course on technology that I can see many opportunities for students opening in about 5- 6 years. Learning possibilities are endless on the internet and programs such as power point, front page, etc.

  2. What did you expect from this class?  How did the course meet or not meet your expectations?

I expected this course to be filled with new knowledge on computers. I thought I would be learning how to use new programs, and in some way I was hoping that is was going to affect my teaching career in the future as well. Now that this course is coming to an end I have learned all of what I expected and more. It taught me how to make a website, further my teaching abilities on power point, and write a thorough research paper in APA format. This was a very beneficial course.

  3. What will you take away with you in terms of conducting research and preparing a group project and a research paper?  Do you feel that you have strengthened your skills in preparing a presentation and/or writing a research paper?  If so, how?  If not, how could the course have better met your needs?

I definitely feel like I have strengthened my skills in preparing a group presentation and writing a research paper. I know how to use APA format now, and am able to organize myself on power point and give a complete presentation. I am able to walk away from here with being able to make a website, use a library database, write a research paper with many educational sources, and make groups presentations on power point.

  4. This course is a general education requirement for ALL undergraduate students at Towson.  Do you agree with this requirement?  Why or why not?

I agree that this should be a general education requirement. All students wanting to become educators should take this course. It was very beneficial to me and I would recommend it to others. Although it was somewhat of a challenge it made me feel more knowledgeable when I was finished. Completing this webpage was the best thing. I am able to walk away from here knowing I can create my own website and I am also capable of showing others all of my assignments and work I completed.

I see technology as something that will help the students I will be working with. Even with the increased use of technology in the classroom now, more classes will be offered online or will be “hybrid” classes – partially taught online and partially taught in the classroom. Especially in colleges, the rapidly growing number of students will force administrators to look at alternatives to offering classes solely in a classroom. Computers will be used to distinguish and assist children with different learning styles, and will benefit those students preferring an interactive approach. Tutorials, games, and interactive programs will expand the learning opportunities for all students, and will benefit them by reinforcing material in a fun and stimulating way.

  2. What did you expect from this class?  How did the course meet or not meet your expectations?

I expected to expand my knowledge of current problems and issues in education, an expectation that was certainly met. As someone who will potentially work in a school setting, the information given on the No Child Left Behind Act gave me a well-rounded perspective of the legislation and allowed me to form an informed opinion of the program and what it advocates. The group presentations on current issues in education also expanded my knowledge and perspectives on issues that will be affecting me in my day-to-day work setting.

  3. What will you take away with you in terms of conducting research and preparing a group project and a research paper?  Do you feel that you have strengthened your skills in preparing a presentation and/or writing a research paper?  If so, how?  If not, how could the course have better met your needs?

I feel that this class has strengthened my skills in researching and writing a research paper. As tedious as the formatting was to write the research paper in APA format, that aspect of the research paper was definitely something I will benefit from as someone entering the psychology field. In the future, I will certainly encounter this mode of formatting and exposing it to me now will give me a benefit when I see it again in later schooling
