ORAL REPORT ASSIGNMENT

ASSIGNMENT: Present a ten-minute talk to the class on an acceptable topic (see guidelines below) on a date arranged in advance with the instructor.

TOPIC: Your topic should relate some aspect of medieval life, language, or literature to one or more of the assigned selections from our text. If you are not sure that your tentative topic is acceptable, please discuss the matter with me before proceeding.

AUDIENCE: Remember that your audience is your classmates, not me. Assume, then, that your audience will know little or nothing about your area of research but will be interested in what you have to say.

VISUAL AIDS: Since verbal presentations are more difficult to follow when they are presented orally, visual aids will be helpful to your audience (and your oral report grade). If you need special equipment or materials, please let me know in advance.

POSTPONED REPORTS: Reports not given on the assigned date will be penalized one letter grade. Under no circumstances may a report be postponed twice.

DUE DATE FOR TOPIC SELECTION: Thursday, February 15.
