Areas of Research:

 

International Trade and Finance Policy (particular expertise in the areas of trade competitiveness and U.S. comparative advantage, international resource flows and mobility, foreign direct investment and unfair trade practices of major U.S. trade partners); Energy Resources and National Energy Policy (particular expertise in the areas of petroleum and OPEC); Regional Economic Analysis and Policies (particular expertise in Middle East and Persian Gulf development, Latin American Economic Integration, and European Economic Integration), and Regional Economic Development.  Most recent research has been in the area of Economics of Education, having served as the leading investigator in a multi-year study of the effects of integrating economics into the curriculum on the Maryland School Performance Assessment Program (MSPAP) economics outcome scores; and, the role of the Economics discipline as it relates to undergraduate programs, particularly those with business programs.
