What Works? Promising Practices for Improving the School Readiness of
English Language Learners (e-book)
Authors: Gilda Martinez and Amanda McMahon
By conducting in-depth interviews of various early educators and community leaders throughout the nation (in California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Texas, as well as other states with large populations learning to speak English) and by collecting and reviewing outreach documents, Dr. Gilda Martinez was able to identify promising policies and practices that can potentially improve the school readiness of English Language Learners. This book not only summarizes the research project, but also provides synopses of various community organizations' programs working with ELL and also contains an annotated bibliography with useful resources for administrators, educators, librarians, parents, and other community members.
