BrickHouse Books, Inc. (formerly New Poets Series, Inc.), is Maryland's oldest continuously operating small press. Founded in 1970, with Clarinda Harriss as its editor since 1973, BrickHouse publishes works of 64-112 pages, whether poetry, fiction, drama, or artistic nonfiction. We look for excellent, fresh, nontrendy, literate, intelligent material in any form or style. Our usual press run is 500-1000 copies, of which the author receives 20, along with BHB's sales and review support. Sale proceeds go back into the corporation to finance the next BrickHouse project.

Special imprints under BrickHouse Books include New Poets Series, which publishes first books only, and Stonewall, which publishes work with a gay, lesbian, or bisexual perspective. BrickHouse is also home to Chestnut Hills Press, an author-subsidy option offered to the top ten percent of the manuscripts we must reject because of budget constraints.
