Column Formatting - Web Pages

I highly recommend placing all your web pages in a column format for the following reasons:
  • Research  indicates that the eye should be able to read the width of a line of text in 2-3 lateral eye movements or the eye becomes fatigued and strained rapidly.

  •
  • The mind processes and retains more information with column formatting (e.g., text books, manuals, newspapers, magazines).

  •
  • Computer monitors are hard on the eyes and anything that aids the reading process should be employed.
 Test it yourself
Toggle a web page back and forth to compare columns -vs- no columns to see what you think
You must use HTML tables to create columns on web pages.  This page is formatted in a column format using an HTML table with:
  • No borders
  • 1-row
  • 2-columns (left column is blank- provides small margin from the edge of page)
  • Table width= 65% of window
