I am an astronomer interested in quasars and the intergalactic medium. Currently I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Astronomy, and Geosciences at Towson University.

From 2004 to 2006 I was a National Research Council Fellow in the Observational Cosmology Laboratory of the Exploration of the Universe Division at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center. I was employed as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, MD from 2002 to 2004.

I received my PhD in Astronomy from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. I did my thesis work at UA's Steward Observatory. I graduated with a BS in physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994. I grew up in Chattanooga, TN.
