Information
for students interested in working in the laboratory
top
I am always willing to
talk to undergraduate and graduate students about potential research
project in the laboratory. I expect students that become involved in
research to commit themselves to the project. This includes time
commitments to understanding the background and general significance of
the research project as well as gathering data in the field and
laboratory.
Undergraduates
can become involved through independent study for credit (BIOL 491), as
paid research assistants (when positions are available), and as partial
fulfillment of the Honors Thesis requirements (see the
Honors
College web page). The ideal situation involves a combination
of two or more of the above, over two or more semesters. For
example, a student may begin by working in the laboratory for a semester
for two credits of independent research. The following semester they
may develop a research project and begin the project as a paid research
assistant. Finally, they may register for Honors Thesis credits in
their final semester and write and defend an Honors Thesis. Past and
presents undergraduate students and project are listed below.
Students
interested in pursuing a Masters Degree in Biology or Environmental
Sciences can find information on my current research projects in the Research
section of this web site and more general information on each program
at the program web sites (Biology
Graduate Program or Environmental
Sciences Graduate Program). Both programs offer support through
teaching and graduate assistantships awarded on a competitive basis.
If you are interested in joining the laboratory, please feel free to email
me (jsnodgrass@towson.edu) to
discuss potential research projects.
