Interdisciplinary Service-Learning Health Promotion Initiatives in
the Community
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this site is to provide an ongoing means of
disseminating information and sharing resources related to health promotion
community-based partnerships within University System of Maryland institutions. The goal is to expand service-learning
opportunities for students and faculty and develop programs to incorporate
students from various disciplines in a collaborative manner.
The development of the initial
data base was funded by the University System of Maryland Faculty Development
Fund and includes links to community agencies with whom the Towson University Department
of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science has carried out
community-based programs in the course Occupational Therapy Health Promotion
Initiatives in the Community.
Faculty are
invited to forward information on their courses, links to related sites, and existing
partnerships where there is the potential to expand to an interdisciplinary
model. The webmaster will make periodic
updates to facilitate coordination between faculty and institutions.
