Minutes from the September 17, 2008 CJSA Meeting

ACJALAE
We discussed the benefits of joining the American Criminal Justice
Association (Lambda Alpha Epsilon) member of Towson’s Criminal Justice
Student Association. Towson’s chapter of ACJA is Tau Upsilon Mu. Forms for
national membership were given out and more copies will be available next
meeting.

Eastern State Penitentiary Trip
The CJSA’s first event of the year will be hosting a trip to Eastern State
Penitentiary, a prison museum in Philadelphia. The trip will be held on
Saturday, October 25th. Charter bus arrangements and price of the trip are
being completed by the officers and sign-ups will begin next meeting. The
trip will be open to all Towson students and will leave from TU at 9 am and
return at approximately 5 pm.

Future Events and Projects
Several options for upcoming events and trips were also discussed. The most
popular ideas included hosting a mock police physical test in Burdick hall
to be administered by real police open to all Towson Students. Many also
showed interested in having Peter Moskos, Harvard sociologist and author
of “Cop in the Hood” come to speak and having the CJSA attend a firearms
safety licensing class.

Next Meeting- October 1st, 6 pm
Location to TBA. We will be holding consistent meetings the first Wednesday
of every month at 6 pm. We will pass out the design for this year’s shirt
next meeting and begin signing up for the trip. We will also collect and
hand out national membership forms.
