About UsMission StatementThe National Center for
Curriculum Transformation Resources on Women (NCCTRW) at Towson University was
established in 1993 to foster curricular change and the dissemination of
scholarship focused on women and other forms of diversity.
The National Center is the curricular arm of a two-part effort that
includes the Institute for Teaching and Research on Women (ITROW) as the
research arm. Through their
combined activities the Institute and the National Center enhance the
institutional goals of diversity and inclusiveness as faculty, students and
staff are prepared for participation in the pluralistic society and
multicultural world in which we live. GoalsThe goals of the National
Center for Curriculum Transformation include: (1) Creating, maintaining and distributing resources for curricular
change through such activities as: ·
Publication of disciplinary
analyses, manuals on inclusive pedagogy, how to design and run curriculum
transformation projects, find funding, write grant proposals, locate resources
on the internet, and topical essays on current issues related to women,
diversity and curriculum transformation ·
Creating and supporting a
nationally accessible clearinghouse of information on curricular integration
content and projects ·
Newsletters (2) Assisting faculty, colleges and universities locally, regionally,
nationally and internationally to integrate scholarship on women and other forms
of diversity into their courses and the educational curricula through such
activities as: ·
Workshops, seminars, and
conferences for Towson and regional faculty ·
Summer Institutes dedicated to
internationalizing courses and educational curricula, and bringing faculty from
various regions of the world together to exchange knowledge and resources ·
Web-based curriculum
transformation workshops · Providing consulting on curriculum transformation and feminist/multicultural pedagogy · The Affiliates Program and Newsletter (3) Fostering dialogue on gender and other forms of diversity across cultures and geographic regions through publications, newsletters, and innovative national and international programming.
