Entries for 26 countries, arranged by world region. Provides analysis with data on demographic characteristics, literacy & education, work force participation, inheritance, citizenship, public office, military service, and health care. Although it purports to cover countries with a wide range of economic traits, coverage of developing countries is sparse. The organization of this volume makes it easy to draw comparisons among the countries covered.

Notes accompanying each regional entry are extensive, relying heavily on publications of the U.S. government and the United Nations.

Nongovernmental organization that campaigns for human rights worldwide.  This site consists of news, feature articles, press releases, and documents. See Stop Violence Against Women campaign.

To search the site for publications on women's rights in a particular country, click on Advanced Search once you're on the website. Select Women as an Issue and a particular country from the dropdown menu.

Select from the list of issues covered such as women workers, domestic violence, sexual violence, trafficking, refugees, legal status.

UN Office of the High Commisioner for Human Rights: Women

Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations maintains this site on women.  Highlighted issues include violence against women, racial discrimination, trafficking in persons, reproductive rights, traditional practices affecting health, and HIV/AIDS.
