National Marine Fisheries Service   This is the site of the National Marine Fisheries Service. It contains information on current research as well as summary reports regarding the state of the nation's fisheries.

NOAA/AOML Ocean Chemistry Division Home Page This area describes current research focusing on marine and atmospheric chemistry.

Tsunami! This covers tsunamis and offers links to other pages about this phenomenon.

NOAA - Marine Geology & Geophysics Offers a large amount of information regarding marine geology. You can even order posters!

NOAA Tide Site This is NOAA's tide prediction area. It offers other related information as well.

El Nino (ENSO) Update This NOAA'S site devoted to ongoing monitoring of the El Nino phenomenon.

Census of Marine Life This ambitious program is a group of affiliated programs hoping to expand our knowledge of marine Biodiversity

Marine Biology Databases

Marine Biology Web This site is maintained by Jeffrey Levinton (SUNY Stony Brook) who has written upper  several advanced texts in Marine Biology. It contains bibliographies and a variety of links other marine sites.

Yahoo! - Science:Biology Yahoo is an Internet search service. This is their current list of major sites in Biology.

Yahoo! - Science:Biology:Marine Biology:Institutes This is Yahoo's list of research institutions.

Yahoo! - Science:Earth Sciences:Oceanography This is Yahoo's list of major sites in Oceanography.

 The Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay Program This is one of the primary research and conservation programs associated with The Bay.

Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee, Cheasapeake Bay Program This group offers guidance and oversight regarding Bay research.  It is composed of  scientists from institutions throughout the watershed.

Maryland DNR Bay Program This is the Maryland Department of Natural Resources site that describes the Bay  ecosystem and DNR conservation programs.

Coral Reefs

Coral Health and Monitoring Program Home Page   This is a summary of NOAA's ongoing coral reef program.

Some Coral Health and Monitoring Related Links   This is linked to NOAA's site, but it contains links to coral reef sites all over the world. It also has a number of links to general oceanography areas.

Deep Sea Systems

Life in Extreme Environments   A survey of organisms which live in hostile envoronments, it includes bacteria associated with deep sea chemosynthestic systems.

Deep Sea Research Page This is a striking series of photographs related to Deep Sea research. Don't miss the photos showing the effects of pressure on a Styrofoam cup!

The Vent's Program This is NOAA's site devoted to Hydrothermal Vent research. Most of it focuses on work in the North Pacific.

Explore a Hydrothermal Vent System   This is an interactive site that simulates the exploration of a vent community. It is graphics intensive, and I would recommend it only if you have a high speed connection.

Ocean Planet: Ocean Science   This is the current research section of the Ocean Planet area. The focus is on Deep Sea Biology.

Marine Organisms

Marine Invertebrate Larvae This site has a number of excellent micrographs of marine larvae.
