Shah named the Empire Who’s Who

Professional of the Year in Higher Education: Chemistry

Towson, MD USA…June 23, 2006—Shirish Shah, Ph.D., Lecturer/ Professor of Chemistry at Towson University has been named the Professional of the year representing Higher Education: Chemistry. Inclusion into Empire Who’s Who is an accomplishment in itself and recognition as an accomplished professional is a rare opportunity. Dr. Shah has an impressive background in chemistry and physics that spans over 40 years. As a Lecturer/ Professor of Chemistry at Towson University he is responsible for teaching chemistry and writing editorials for professional journals. Dr. Shah previously worked as an Associate Professor at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland (1991-2002), a Professor of Science and Chair of computer systems and technologies at the Community College of Baltimore (1976-1991), an Associate Professor and Administrator of Marine Science at Chesapeake College (1968-1976), of Director of Quality Control for Vita foods, Inc. (1968-1973), Project Manager to develop and build telecommunication program (In partnership with MCI, Inc.) (1985-1989) and an Educational Consultant for Baltimore City Joint Apprentices Committee (1982-1989). He also developed new programs in the prison system in Jessup, MD (1982-1990). Towson University is one of the nation’s best regional public universities, offering more than 100 bachelors, masters and doctoral degree programs in the liberal arts and sciences, and applied professional fields.

Dr. Shah received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Delaware (1968) and his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Physics from Xavier College (1962). He is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Industrial Hygiene Association, Who’s Who in the World and the National Association of Industrial Technology. Dr. Shah received the Director III Regional Award in Leadership (1990), 2^nd place Public Relations Award (1996), Science Policy Award, Washington, DC (2000), Salute to Excellence for Active Participation in National Chemistry Week (as Coordinator for5 or more years) (2004) and all accolades from the American Chemical Society.

In his spare time, Shirish enjoys tennis and racquetball.
